Rideau Centre

X-L-Air was a member of C.A.L. Construction’s design-build team responsible for the conversion of the old 3-level 240,000 sqft Sears store at Rideau Centre into a 2-level base building mechanical system retrofit for retail outfit ‘Nordstrom’; and a 1-level food court of high-end quality and finish comprising of 16 eateries, an 850 seat dining hall, and 6 commercial retail unit stores. X-L-Air was the Prime Mechanical contractor responsible for all mechanical systems including, ventilation, heating and air-conditioning, plumbing and controls. Mechanical system challenges for air balancing and controllability included multi-tenant kitchen exhaust/ecology systems, kitchen make-up air systems, dining hall and commercial retail unit air systems, and a central scullery dishwasher exhaust system. X-L-Air was a committed member of the Project Team to ensure overall coordination, installation and commissioning of the mechanical systems was completed within the very short project schedule and on time for the Grand Opening Day.
